CHILLY WILLY part.2

So I promised an extended version of my trip to Zagreb and the whole RHCP concert thing :) here it goes..

I went to ZG with my friend Katja early morning on the day of the concert by train. The ride wasn't too bad, even the overly talkative weird guy every train is bound to have wasn't too pushy and quite tolerable. We didn't have a hostel booked, but we knew where we wanted to stay. There is this hostel we once stayed and we wanted to return, because it's pretty much one of the best hostels I ever stayed in. I'm not saying that because it's a completely new hostel, but because it's the cleanest one I've seen so far (and I've had my share of hostel experience). Plus it really isn't expensive. So if you're planning a trip to Zagreb I highly recommend the Chill Out Hostel.
This is me, coming from the train station looking for the quickest way to the hostel.
So we got there pretty early and we had some time to kill, so of course we went through the city. The plan was just to go through and grab something to eat. Yeah, right.. You see.. it's summertime, which means 'sales'. Sales everywhere.  And being such shoe freaks as we are we just HAD to get some :) this is my catch. I love them.
this pic is taken at my home, too bad I didn't take it at the store because it was a nice store.
After we satisfied our little hearts with new purchases (but not quite empty our wallets - the shoes were actually very reasonable) we really got hungry. We stopped at this very chic restaurant / lounge / bar thing called 'Oranž' and were surprised at the prices. Again, compared to Ljubljana it was.. cheap. Like less than we're used to. I did some research about the place, but they don't seem to have their own web page, only really good reviews. We liked it a lot and the food was quite awesome :)

So we did some lounging there and realized it was time to get back to the hostel and get ready! We had some roommates who were so nice and were also headed to the concert, but we didn't go there together, because we wanted to get there early (this part is important I promise) :) But of course we had some fun getting there :)

Yes, we got hungry again so we got hotdogs. I didn't want to put Katja's picture eating online, she would probably hate me forever :)
The good thing about getting there early was it was really empty at the time. As in 'they were still putting things together' empty.

But the best thing about getting there early was the fact that we actually didn't have the best tickets (I know, term 'best' is a bit debatable - for me, front row is the best). So we didn't have the means to get to the restricted area for the 'expensive - ticket - owners' but the security guy let us in anyways. Was is due to the fact we were there at 5pm (Red Hots weren't playing until 9.30pm) or the fact we put on the most beautiful smiles we could (or the fact the concert wasn't sold out) :) but we were happy, man. Really super mega happy. Supercalifragilistic happy. We even wiggled our way to the second row.

Still we had some time to goof around, cause there still weren't many people there..
Camping in front of the stage.

Montage of my (broken) legs.. you can see the red plaster :)

Me (left) and Katja (right)
After that.. the crowd started to emerge from god-knows-where.
You can see my extra white hair :)
So  the first opening act was this British group called AAAK (I'll put one youtube link later). It wasn't the best thing I've ever heard but they got us in a mood, which was ok :) I got a bit annoyed by this group of hungarian fans, but I don't blame them. They looked pretty young so I'm thinking this was their first big concert and they didn't know how to act yet. (yes, me being condescending is intentional). And then there was another opening act, which was a surprise I think. Either way I liked it. It was 2chellos. These guys are amazing. And I'm not saying that just because I used to play chello as well. They really are amazing. They hit it big when they did a cover of 'Smooth criminal' and after that you could see them everywhere. They even did a performance in Glee. So this was nice. (I just found out that the opening act for Red Hots in Warsaw were Kasabian. Damn. I love those guys. It would be just too perfect I guess).

And than.. finally.. THEY came up. The concert itself was good. And I do mean good :) I've heard a lot of critics that they don't sound as well live as they were supposed to. But frankly this was my third time going to their concert and.. well ok, the first time in Vienna about 6 years ago it was lousy. Not so much their quality but the fact they only played for 45min. That sucked! But quality wise, acoustically wise, performance wise I have no complaints. Maybe I am blinded by my eternal love for Anthony. But I doubt it :)

Here are some pics I took. I have literally 200 of them but they're mostly rubbish because firstly I don't have an awesome camera. It's pink, but that's the only bright spot about it. Secondly, I'm not the best photographer and thirdly.. you try taking pictures when bizzilon people is shoving you around.

Somewhere midway concert me and Katja just got too tired of the crowd and were completely dehydrated so we went to the back. Back of the restricted fansy area that is :) and there we could actually dance!! And chill when it was over.

After the concert we had such bad luck getting a taxi. We waited for an hour at least. And then just went straight to the hostel, took a looooong shower and collapsed in beds. Guess we're not so young anymore :)

The next morning we went to the 'Oranž' bar again, where we just sat and ate and had some cake for few hours. You can see how horribly exhausted I was.

After that we just went beck to the hostel, took a rest...
...and went back home.

I know this post is waaaaay too long. But hey, that's just my way of compensating for months of absence :)

WE WANT CHILLY WILLY

As I said there was a RHCP concert I needed to attend :) yes, I do mean 'needed' because I still believe Anthony is the god given gift that we need to worship, need to listen, need to drool over.
So I got back from Zagreb yesterday evening and I didn't have time (yet) to organize the ton of pictures.. so for now.. just a quick hello and a shabby before and now thing.

Who's got a match??

So lately I'm thinking a lot about smoking. Not the health issue or anything. Just smoking in general. Those of you who know me longer probably know as well that I used to smoke. I started pretty young - when I was still in high school. Why I started.. Don't know exactly. It was not because of peer pressure that's for sure. In my company of peers back then smoking was.. frowned upon. I liked it I guess. Either way it went on for a while. I had some periods of non smoking, but they were just periods. I fully stopped when I started dating my (now ex) bf (the one I got all those awesome gifts for). But since he's my ex and I had nobody to complain about it for some months now I started again. Just a bit. Right now I'm that social poser who smokes only on parties or some events or something like that.

The thing that really got me thinking is.. Is smoking really that bad? Of course I know all health hazards, not only is my sister a doctor, I used to be a hostess for electronic cigarettes (you have to know your shit if you're trying to sell something), but we also live in an age of information. But the whole thing of 'needing' something. Doesn't it suck? That you don't feel right if you don't get it? Maybe that's the reason I don't drink coffee either.

So to feel better about my unhealthy habit I gathered some pics that glorify smoking. Hell yeah. :)

Some 50ies commerical.. Gotta love it :)
 Series of really awesome photographs.

And now celebrities..

Campaign for YSL line of cigarettes.

In the golden age of smoking these guys were 'the shit'
Humphrey Bogart
Audrey Hepburn

But in the 'modern times' we can't go pass ms. Del Rey

And now.. some of my favorite guys in the whole wide world :)
I know he's a cliche.. but seriously.. who wouldn't tap that :)
Julian Casablancas.. I'm in love with those puppy eyes..
I think Anthony deserves his own intro :)

ps. I'm going to the RHCP concert tomorrow in Zagreb.. Psyched is an understatement.

Backstreets back allright

Ok.. I know I'm so lousy at this that I can't even call myself a blogger. I mean.. talk about total black out. But don't feel neglected. I did this (the total black out thing) with everything for the last couple of months. School, blog, creating new stuff, drooling on Polyvore (of course I have a link to the shoe department)... you name it, I didn't do it.

But I'm starting to get back in the game (jeesh, i sound like a creepy 'New Jersey' character) and one of the things I'm adamant to enhance is the amount of nakid pictures here on my blog.

Starting with few stolen ones from my favorite page ever made.. modfetish.
Enjoy ppl!
Hooray for boobieeeeeees (you have to sing this part in your hear.. it's the Bloodhound gang 'song'/thing/whatever - tried to find it on youtube.. but had no such luck)

I love this one because it's a nakid lady in latex.. what more can you ask for??

Luvz the shadow/light thing going on there

Needless to say 'Hair' is my all time favorite musical

Perfection.

I like this one cause she reminds me of an ice cream. Vanilla or something. And it's summer so..

The real Little Mermaid

AT LAST!

I think I mentioned some time ago something about some projects I’m preparing. Yes, I know, I could be called queen of vagueness :)

And now, the time has come to finally show you what the hell I was talking about. It’s my Dear Deer project. Why Tanja, what is Dear Deer? I’m glad you asked. It’s my own page I created to put on display my works, broches, rings, hair clips, and stickers for clothes. For now :)

So here’s the link, I hope you’ll like it. Well, I hope you’ll love it!

February 11, 2012

and I digress..

So I’ve been waiting for NY Fashion week to start as anxiously as they come. And of course yesterday (I was originally writing this on Thursday) I jumped on Vogue page to see the latest shows. I was pleasantly surprised. Usually I wait for FW like a little child waits for Christmas and, as most of little children (at least in the former Yugoslavia part – hahahah, bad joke), I’m a bit disappointed. So I’ve developed a form of thinking where I convince myself that it is better not to have too great expectations – ‘No shit, Jessica Fletcher!’ said mr. Dickens to.. well.. Jessica Fletcher. But I digress..
What I wanted to say is: I really liked Rachel Comey’sready-to-wear collection.
(damn, right now, I’m writing this on a piece of paper as a note, and I’m completely dyslexic. Thanks whoever for the autocorrect!)
I won’t go into details with the collection itself because honestly, probably every slightly fashion-connected blog/wlog/whatever is doing the reviews of fw ATM. I have a much more delightful agenda on my mind ;)
Yes, Rachel Comey I liked. I just might want to add I’ve never really followed what RC does or even who the hell she is. Never mind though.
Now here’s the part I really wanted to write about.
Oh, before I start, just one more thing, I promise. I can’t decide if I loved or hated Givenchy’s nose thingies. I guess I liked it, but not in ‘oh, it’s so couture, you’re not supposed to get it!’ way, but mainly because the guys really kind of reminded me of some modern interpretation of an ancient breed of matadors. Which is sexy in a way. Not the actual bull fighting way – I really dislike the treatment towards the bulls. But these matadors seem out of time, somewhat animalistic themselves. Like they respect the Bull above all. And that they could feel with the Bull. When the battle starts, it’s not man vs. animal. It’s the course of nature and for a moment they are one. Equal. Only faith will decide who will win. And THAT makes them noble. As for those few girls in the show.. I mean, is there a sexier thing than a woman in such brutal mens world? Fighting for existence, equality. To me it is power of life in its purest form. But of course this may be only my imagination and Givenchys intention really was just to shock and make you feel inadequate for not understanding this. Beats me.
I guess this pretty much makes my dilemma non existing. I didn’t like the show, I loved it. If it’s for the ‘right’ reasons or not I don’t actually care. I believe in my interpretation and that is what I like in fashion. You can always interpret it your own way. Even thinking as a designer – yeah, I do that too, I’m a crafty b*tch (on that note – I have a bunch of things I want to say about f****** peplums – but that’s another story) I don’t mind if someone interprets my work differently than I fist imagined. Sure it’s great if they ‘get you’. Hell, great is an understatement of universal proportion in this case. It is undescribable. That you do something and people not only response to you but they understand, and then just maybe even like!
But of course it is not always so. Still I believe it can be just as rewarding to give someone something that means something to them. You can call me a soft-hearted sucker who cares about world and is into giving and karma and what not, but what can I say, that is me.
Oh my, do I sound cheesy! I hope I’ll figure out something different to write until I’m supposed to post this (I didn’t).
Guess what! I don’t think I’ll write about the thing I primarily wanted! Sorry! You’ll just have to stick around for next post. Muahahahhah – that would be my poor impression of an evil laugh. Yeah..

ps. Sorry for no-photos post.. It's jsut that I really don't have much time right now to 'save-repost' all the pictures I wanted so I just put links to the shows.. Hope you don't mind***

SORRY

Sorry. I know I’m the worst. It’s just that so much has happened and there’s so little time. And I’m preparing some huge projects. Hope I’ll be able to tell more soon.

Here’s just a little song I’m obsessed with lately :)

No need to mention that the video is magical, right??
